Emmanuel Discipleship Academy

Developing Disciple Making Leaders who disciple individuals and transform communities.

The gap

According to World Bank, over 75% of Uganda’s population is below the age of 30, with the country having one of the highest youth unemployment rates at 13.3%—the number of youth actively looking for a job as a percentage of the labor force—in Sub-Saharan Africa. This is attributed to high illiteracy levels, lack of skills and a large generation is not mentored to compete in the job market and to actively create solutions for the challenges in the communities they live in.

OUR APPROACH

Founded in 2020, Emmanuel Discipleship Academy (EDA) will be training and equipping young adults in the young adults domain starting with those who have not had an opportunity to continue formal education but yet they carry a zeal to be trained to pioneer change in their societies.

The Dreamer’s burden

The young adults aged between 20 to 35 are always at the verge of making permanent decisions that influence their lives thus even changing the nation of not only Uganda but also the world  at large. According to UNFPA, 34.6 million of these are adolescents with a similar sex distribution. The people they depend on largely are unskilled or even educated without the capacity to show their children the way due to illiteracy, poverty and also the lack of a mentor. The future of Uganda and the world is in the hands of the younger generation. If we do not empower, train, teach, equip and transform them to live a life that transforms the local community and ultimately the world at large, our fathers will leave but just a forest of old trees minus saplings. This therefore means that the Ugandan community will be facing four major problems; Leadership crisis, Unskilled youths, Untamed young adults and a big unemployment gap. Every empowerment, mentorship and skilling program needs Time, relationships, and intentionality for it to be impactful.
