Growing up, I come from a family of 10 siblings same Dad and Mom. So poor growing up that we wouldn’t afford a daily meal or even daily needs what I would call the basic needs.

I started working on construction sites at the age of 11 and would barely carry two bricks or even push a wheel barrow of sand. Through this kind of work, it’s how I met a very very compassionate man who chose to take me up saving me from Child labor. Little did I know that this gentleman owned a secondary school not far away from where own local trading center was. When my primary living examination results came out, this gentleman was shocked on how I would afford to get a 1st grade in my exams because he couldn’t imagine that I was even going to school.

This gentleman took me up to stay at school always as I would work for that to be turned into a payment of my school fees. For my six years of secondary education, this gentleman took care of my school fees and other scholastic materials and knew nothing regarding my parents or even family. Very shocking right!

Thank God I was a leader in various capacities, say mess prefect, class monitor and head of Career department where we would host different people to talk to students about their passions and ambitions . This is what has groomed me to where I am.

As a country, we have a father figure gap even for us blessed to still have our Dads. Someone willing to share and walk with you through life is one of the hardest huddles to solve I our nation not forgetting that 75 percent of Ugandans are youths. So who mentors or bridges the gap and role Dads should be playing in the lives of their children? I also witnessed these stories at university where students study without their fathers, without career guidance, theoretical education style among others and this geared and aroused strongly the feeling to play such a role through the establishment of the academy that will bride the gap of mentorship, skilling, and empowerment to make this world a better place.
