eda skilling APPROACH

EDA has a goal of empowering 10,000 young people by 2026

Founded in 2021, EMMANUEL Discipleship Academy (EDA) will be training and equipping the young adults in the young adults domain starting with those who have not had an opportunity to continue formal education but yet they carry a zeal to be trained to pioneer change in their societies.

They will be empowered for six months to the level of acquiring a certificate regarding any skill obtained.

EDA will endeavor to undertake an ambitious program of expansion and development and setting up new branches in a bid to serve the entire four regions of the country with the headquarters being in Kampala City. It will boast a purpose-built Academy with excellent facilities. The Academy will maintain its aims, spirituality and teaching philosophy at par with the best standards.

The Academy infrastructure will be the best among the best in Uganda and visitors will always acknowledge not only the presence of the excellence but also the green, warm and vibrant atmosphere. EDA will be a safe Eutopia for cohorts and will provide an aesthetically stimulating environment that transforms, informs and inspires the whole young generation, communities and will foster happy and motivated members with a very skilling background.

Facilities

The Academy will be purposely built to accommodate up to 12 per cohort, increasing in line with the development of other Academies to cover other regions in Uganda. The Academy will have 01 practice music room, an indoor gym, one practical hands on room, one library, one playing field, an agricultural and other hands on model farm for the members which will in turn be commercial to increase on the Academy’s earnings and locally harvested food to feed the Academy.

EDA will train Ugandan youth in various practical skills through partnership with other service providers.
Young people will be trained focusing on the following disciplines:

Livelihoods

Supporting young people to identify income generating opportunities and promoting self-reliance

Food Security

Supporting growing of nutritious food crops and fruits to fight malnutrition and hunger

Sports and Talents

Supporting music, dance, drama and sports programs for young people to provide productive choices, increase their self-esteem, develop their skills, and fight cases of violence.

Eco-tourism

Empowering young people to have skills and knowledge of promoting eco-tourism and protecting the environment.

Climate Action

Empowering young people to become active agents of change through designing solutions that address effects of climate change.

Entrepreneurship

Training young people in entrepreneurship skills, Income generating activities and savings.

Business Skills

Empowering young people to gain skills, confidence and skills to start and manage their businesses and change their lives and lives of their families and communities they live in.

Real estate

Train young people in real estate hard, soft and technical skills so that they can tap into the industry and benefit from its opportunities.

EDA offers the following skills

Welding Skills

Hands-on experience with the latest welding trade and technology. EDA trains welding professionals who later join their communities to start producing products for various businesses and individuals.

Construction Skills

Young adults are trained by professionals the construction industry who help them develop, learn and polish their building and construction skills which they can apply in their communities to earn a living.

Carpentry skills

EDA also trains young adults in carpentry skills so they can be able to develop various products out of wood and sell them to earn some income.

Water drilling skills by hand

One of the skills we train the young adults is water drilling so that they can go back in their communities and address water shortage problems and earn income from their skills.

Tailoring skills

Young adults also learn tailoring so that they can start working on people’s clothes and also producing new fashions to earn income from their skills.

Hair dressing and styling skills

Young adults also learn hair styling skills which they can apply in their communities to earn an income from the readily available market. Uganda has more girls and women than men and boys and most of them love keeping up to date on latest fashion and design including hair styles. This makes this trade a marketable venture where young adults cannot fail to earn income from.

Motor vehicle mechanics

EDA also equips young adults with motor vehicle mechanics plus driving skills so that they can solve motor vehicle mechanical problems in their communities and earn an income.

Food preparation skills

One of the most lucrative business in Uganda is food business because food is a basic need and therefore has ready market. EDA trains young adults on how to prepare various types of dishes and food types so that they can apply those skills in their communities to start earning income.

ICT and digital skills

There is no way you can seperate young people and technology because it is now more essential than ever. It is the reason EDA equips young adults with various marketable ICT and digital skills which they can apply in their daily lives and communities to solve challenges and also earn an income.
